Whats with money in GW??
I just started playing Guild Wars a while ago and my first char is a rit/N whos now lvl 17. When I was lvl 1-10 I didnt expect to get a lot of money, maybe 1k at max. But now I'm lvl 17 almost 18 and I'm still poor . I do missions and a ton of quests. But I've only managed to reach 3k and 500g! And I also noticed all the prices in GW are going up, 50-100k for weapons, 50k for pets...1-7k for dyes....and armor....lets not get into armor. So my question to you all is, how the hell am I supposed to get enough money to buy stuff? I know theres always farming, but its boring and I don't have the time. I know there are probaly a million posts like this but please, could you give me some tips on how to make more money? Or at least tell me why prices in GW are going up! Thx !

those 50-100k weapons, all vanity same with mini pets, those don't help you at all in the game. You can get several very decent weapons from collectors in exchange for some items enemies drop.
All dye is available of the trader for a few hundred gold a vial, exept for white and black which go for several plat, but players sell them to other players cause they will make more money than just selling to trader. Armor, well all you need is a max AL set, you being a caster one that provides 60 AL which you can get under from 7-15k depending on which set it is, materials, insignias and runes, there are other vanity forms each costing 15k a piece(60-75k a set) but those provide the same as the basic ones. once you hit lvl 20 thats when the game really starts and you'll see a change in quality of drops as you progress more than what you see in the started area and early main land. |

the weapons, minis, dyes, and all that other junk that is 50k+ (even 15k+) is more for looks than funtion.
if you wanted.. you can get a weapon with the exact same stats as.. lets say.. a perfect req 9 Stygian Reaver(100k+many many many ectos) in Victos Battle Axe(5k). it's just for look. |

Well, since you are Rt/ I know you started in Factions.
If you left starters island, you could have enough cash for max armor in the main city (not considering the rare crafting materials, which might make it more expensive). I know this from experience. 100K+ weapons, 50K+ pets, dye.... Don't bother yet, there are less expensive ones available. Even 'free' ones, collectors ftw. You get richer when you play the storyline and don't buy stuff you don't really need. Factions has enough gold and drops to get everything you need to finish the game and more. Prices are not going up, crafters armor and weapons have the same base price and most crafting materials dropped in price. Runes did get somewhat more expensive, but there is no need to fully rune up at once. |
